I ve always used float size 12 long shanks for garfish but I was told the other day try sabiki rugs. Can someone advise me if these are good for cars and if sodome advice onset etc

Yes they work. Funnily enough they work on most bait/bread & butter species. Legally you can only fish the rig baitless, or with 2 baited hooks only.
In all fairness though, it's easy enough to tie a 2 hook rig of your own, using a red long shank hook with a glow bead sliding onto it. Works just as well as a sabiki imo.

Used to always see gars around the boat...haven't for a long time.. ive got some off the stuff to put around hooks..its has slipped my mind what its called..but if you want to try some.. let me know..i can post you some
