Mulloway in the Yarra a far & few , i have been fishing for them since 1983 & have only taken a hand full & not huge ones either . they are very elusive & not easy to tempt even with live bait or not .

Think that pretty much applies to Mulloway anywhere.
Just a very wary & smart fish that don;lt hop on hooks for anybody.
Anyone catching a jew will have to work for it, or if ya do manage to fluke one, you'll guarantreed have to work damned hard for the next. 'Swhy they're so highly regarded as a sport fish.

Bill.

Sorry to bring this topic up again but was talking to my mate today and told him the Newport ramp is closest. But he would rather launch from st. Kilda . Would anyone know how long it will take to get to the mouth of the yarra from st.kilda . About 20 minutes or so perhaps??? Cheers :D

Depends on the chop in the bay. The distance is about 5kms and should only take about 5mins if the water is calm. But if it's choppy, take your time and allow extra time.
