Lifejacket to be worn in and around the rip

Apparently you have to wear a lifejacket at all times when fishing form shortland bluff to point napean, I would imagine that means Queenscliff and point Lonsdale, seems a bit harsh to me

Seems a bit like common sense to me considering the danger in the area.

Rule has been in for awhile. Easy to fish with an inflatable on anyway

I think they changed the rules about 4 months ago. Increasing the area dramatically.
There is probably good research to go with there decision but I dont know what it is.

Imo i think its abit over the top really...if 4 of you are in a 6mt barcrusher, you all need a lifejacket on in ALL conditions...i get theres a risk and all that but theres already rules in place for it..

They classify the rip as a bar crossing because of it's dangers. Falls under heightened risk so no matter what pfds need to be worn.

To clarify, the rip has always been a place where pfds must be worn. They've only extended the area in which you're required to wear one
