I've got a 7ft rod with 2500 reel i can use for plastics, it's already got 6lb braid spooled aswell.
I am going to invest in a few bigger rods aswell, will look into that shortly.

4liters wrote:I forgot you mentioned you had a kayak for fishing Blue Rock, would that be suitable for salt water fishing? You'll catch a lot more fish from out on the water than landbased.
It's not ideal I wouldn't say so. Would have to be a good day for it to take it out, doesn't have pedals only a paddle.

A $350 'fishing kayak' I bought online, about 4 years ago. I bought it with the intention of using it in freshwater. It's actually a nice little yak, it just is quite a simple yak and is only 2.7M.

Yeah, not really up for much saltwater fishing. Keep it in mind for really calm days though

I'm out in Lilydale.

Yeah will do 4liters.

Realised one of my friends bought me 'How to catch Australia's favourite fish' haha, having a look through some very good info in there.
I'll check out the one you reccomend aswell, that has more specific information about which areas fish frequent does it?

This is what they look like:

50 or so spots, with the basic info on what you'll catch, when and what to use. Sometimes they'll say to cast into a certain area. They're only $10 each (WPB and PPB are in separate books) and it'll probably be the best $20 you'll invest in fishing related stuff.

Yep, looks like a valuable tool mate. Will pick one up for sure.

Know where to get them? Can't seem to find it online @ BCF. Tackle store probably has it?

Choose between Sorrento pier, Portsea Pier, Cowes Pier, Tooradin inlet and Mornington pier. Different tactics for each one. probably want a day when the wind is not howling for your first go, although tooradin is pretty sheltered.

Pick a location, either post it here or shoot me a pm an di'll try and put you onto some fish.
