Fish harvester NZ

Has anyone seen these before? Saw an ad for it on facebook. They illegal here in Aus? Kind of defeats the purpose of fishing.

Never seen one used here, I think they call them kon tikis in kiwiland

Should've elaborated more on it, they're designed to take 200m+ of line out via remote electronically and can attach hooks to it whilst it's being swam out then when your done, using a winch to pull that craft back with the intention to catch fish

I watched a YouTube vid of it and they said 25 hooks and can take baits out up to 1800 m from the shore.

What?? I thought KonTikis were those tours around Europe where get lucky with the next passenger of the opposite sex :)

Only if it's legal in Oz .. will definitely consider one :)

Yep, a form of Kon Tiki. Maoris have used them for many years. Originally they had a sail. In the 50's they used a boiled lollie to hold it all together. When the lollie dissolved it would drop its sail and an anchor at the same time. Pull the whole lot in a couple of hours later.

At a guess I would imagine it legal, but only if you use a max 2 baited hooks per line.

So these things are like a long liner as opposed to a drone taking out bait?
