Loch Sports Trip this weekend

Post by Triggz » Thu May 14, 2015 8:07 am

Morning everybody,

Heading to Loch Sports tomorrow afternoon for a couple of days. It's my first time heading there so just testing the waters and scouting the place out.

1) what species can be found around this area?
2) any suggested camping spots close to Loch?
3) any information about this area at all would be awesome.

I have a 12ft inflatable with Minn Kota so will be on the water but range is limited. I also don't mind a trek on foot.

Will have bait/spin/fly gear

Cheers guys

Hey Bud,
Salmon off the surf beach, but if your after camping, go to Seacombe and fish McClellan Straights for bream perfect for your boat, the straights is about 10km long between lake Wellington and lake Victoria, turn off is about 15km before Loch Sport, as you come into to Seacombe there's an old dairy on the right where there's a fork in the road, left is to the boat ramp and right will take you to some secluded camp spots or you can park at the boat ramp and head east in your boat to get to the camp spots. I can PM some good spots but it's all pretty good with the fish moving up and down the length of it.
I'll be up there this week end might see you.
Cheers Jeff

Cheers mate, will have to check it all out. Will most likely camp where you suggested but will still have to check out the gutters out the front of Loch at some point.

Ill be in a Sevylor 3.6m Fish Hunter with electric so if you happen to see me mate make sure you give us a wave haha

tough going with salmon along the 90 mile latley with the trawler in really close still catch fish but not in big numbers like you used to, fish soft plastics in the gutters if the wind and weed isn't too bad, seems to work well if you can find a nice gutter in close. good gummies along there if you put in the time and effort and use fresh salmon or squid heads seem to work best.
Cheers Nick

Not good at estuaries but it's a seriously good weekend for targetting salmon off a beach.

Sounds good. That's is one thing I'm very keen for. Will set the mrs up with bait and then start throwing slugs or might even try some salt water flies (wind permitting) and see what is the flavour of the afternoon for them.
