I think the 80lb leader is way to light if fishing for marlin the bill is very rough we use 300lb leader and have had that cut through one year when a marlin stuck his head out of the water and waved his bill at us

Last year we were at the ramp when another vic fisho was caught by fisheries with under size kingfish they let him off with a warning have a quick browse off their website there are other subtle differences

we ( 3 of us) fished for 4 days previous just out of harbour and ended up with 84 flathead, majority over 45cm
