Best wind direction for fishing the rip for kingy's

Post by mattyc » Mon Feb 09, 2015 10:46 am

Hi All,

Wondering the best wind direction to head out on the rip for kingfish in port phillip?
Outgoing tide with a northerly?

Any help would be great, also are you fishing on the edge of the rip or right in the middle?

Cheers,
Matt

Northerly and southernly are ok to fish the rip, I've fished in string northerly 15-20 knots and found it ok, bit choppy at Sorrento but as u get closer to rip it calms down. Haven't fished it in strong southernly
. I reckon most important thing is little to no swell. Also there is a marine park on the side so keep clear of that.
