What rod did you go with? From memory, heng (poodoo) does some jigging. Dunno if he's land based or not.

In the warmer months it might be a fantastic way of catching pinkies .
Any suggestions on deeper water thats accessible land based ?
This will take some amount of experimentation. I asked Chris at the Compleat Angler in the CBD if any of his clients had done something similar and he didnt know of anyone.
There is very deep water straight down from the ledge at punchbowl on the right side but it isn't the easiest of walks and not the safest either.

Hmmm i get what u mean. wouldnt trust a microjig setup to be able to handle the abrasion of the rocks there either . Im Hoping i can find 10m of water around the piers.
Will fish the High tide change. Probably my best bet. Will definitely get back to you on my findings :)

im just curious how the landbased guys are doing this microjigging.
theres very limited areas where you can even try it, and even then catching something will be a big bonus.
unless of course im missing something..

Land based microjigging is a very real way to target fish, its been quite nicely explored in Japan.
We need only about 10m of water, cast . let it sink. jig it back to the surface and drop again.
On a good cast and a long rod, u could possibly get 3 jigs in total on one cast.
all jigs are btw 10gm and 40gm in weight.
line used is light. 10lb braid with a 10lb flouro leader.

the jigs are the slow flutter jigs , like the popular gomuku range.

The rods are a specialized jig rods.

The only one i have been able to get my hand on ( in shipping)
is the Zerek ShoreLine Shiner

I have attached a link to a video clip that explains this well.

We need about 10m of water, im sure we have that depth around .
Silver Trevally, Pinkie Snapper, Salmon and Flathead should be willing participants in this experiment.
