Cheers davo
It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

I know exactly what your saying BM particularly in open water. However they can practically become pets around piers (where this was taken from) and I mean no disrespect to your captures.

All good deathray...yes they do become pets around the piers and catching a pier pet fish is not fair game.

hi everyone,
i have been on here for a while but this is my first post.
i used to live in hervey bay and the pier was the best land based fishing until, they took the last 2 - 300 mt off the end (for saftey reasons).
there used to be 2 groper living at the end of the pier that had been there for a lot of years.
i only ever fished at the head of the pier (very deep water).
we used to catch tuna up to 70kg (average 20kg)
black king fish cant remember the weights but the biggest was 8ft.
silver trevelly average 18kg.
flathead biggest was 5ft long and weighed 13kg.
and a huge variety of other species.
the pier was a port for the sugar industry as well as coal and timber.

Cool 1st post toxicbob. I'd happily walk a kilometer long pier if it meant the chance of 8 foot cobia!

Great fish guys!

Learned to fish with my two uncles and Oma in hervey bay back in the late 80's.

Been up more recently with some heavier gear and got smashed a couple of times.
