Snapper rig on boat
Just wondering what rigs you people use on a boat for snapper off mornington. Running sinker rig ? And how big of a sinker ?

how deep are you going - 15 - 16 meters I dont use sinkers just 10 lb braid with a 30 lb leaderShaneoooo wrote:Just wondering what rigs you people use on a boat for snapper off mornington. Running sinker rig ? And how big of a sinker ?
the bait sinks fast enough by its self and looks more like the cut pillies pieces I use as burley
deeper maybe 1/2 an oz

There's not much current off mornington. You could get away with no sinkers if using big baits. If not a running sinker rig with a small ball sinker is fine

Re: Snapper rig on boat
I run a mixture off the boat home tied snapper snatchers. running sinker, weight depends on the current and floaters just cast out as far as possible and left to sink.

IMO fishing unweighted or with ultra light around morington will result in more tangles less baits where the fish are and a lower catch rate.
