Shouldn’t be too bad once the sun goes down. Do you fish much after dark or more mainly during the day mate?
I usually stay till about 9pm, some time I am on the Williamstown pier
Clear water and hot day means the fish usually shut during the day and become hungry. Soon the sun sets, they'll feed! And hungry as!

I remember went to Hepburn Lagoon once in hot summer day. Literally dead a whole afternoon, but soon the sky went orange, hundreds of trout rising and feeding everywhere. As far as my eyes could see.
Not sure if it works the same with other species, since trout do rise a lot eating bugs on surface, and those bugs are active when the sun sets.

I guess you just need to find the right depth. Top water is warmer and after few metres down, the water gets colder. The fish will sit in their ideal temperature. Each fish has different temp preferences.

I read once on a book of the author fished for trout in a 8 degree water and not catching. Soon he moved into shallower warmer water around 12 degrees, he started catching. And vice versa for the hot temp.
Cheers mate will give it a try this evening.

Yeah, Deepak, I ditto the general advice.

In the cool of the morning before the warmth kicks in, especially for squid but they can be caught during the heat just not in great numbers.

I found squid not too fussy. When they're hungry they'll hit anything regardless the temperature/tide/etc.
But the best would be Dusk on wards, once the Sun goes down, they seem to become more active.

Good luck,
Cheers, Bugatti
Will give it a try this evening.

Ah mate, that's pretty much hot summer fishing. Undersized fish.
Go fish the evening for squid probably still okay. Red fins still feed on hot summer days but same, small.
