More reds! WP Turning on

Post by STriplett1997 » Sun Sep 23, 2018 2:03 pm

After my first session back on the water just over a week ago, i couldn't be more pumped.

The plan was to head back out again with the barometer racing and the water temp up around 12.7 - 13.1 degrees. We burleyed up at the end of the run out, fish slack water resulting in some Barracouta, Salmon & of course.. Squid.

Motored down to the same mark as last time to catch the afternoon run in. First 5 minutes of baits in the water and boom, buckle and run taking the couta fillet. A little 3.5kg Red.. Not the one im after though.

It was time for Josh to open his account for the season. With the tally 3-0 fish, even i wanted him to get one. Things were slow for 40 minutes, then i see his rod nodding "your rods gonna buckle mate, its gonna buckle!" and sure enough it did. Some absolutely awesome runs, definitely a solid fish. And then.... all of a sudden lost connection. Hook up mustn't have been to good.... absolutely gutted for him. Was a very good fish too, i called it about the same as the big one from my last report. Hopefully can get him one in the next few days.

Cheers guys! get out there.

Another top report mate!
It won’t be long I think before your mate open’s his account for the season if he continues to go out with you!!!
That 3.5 kg fish is still a nice fish any day.
How high are you aiming for? 8 kg+? :)

Thanks mate.
Hahaha, don’t put too much pressure on me  . Was his moment to shine. Just one of those things I guess. He didn’t do too much wrong fighting the fish either.. it was as if the hook rolled out of its mouth. But hey.. that’s fishing.

Yes an 8kg would be nice.
Anything over 6 would be nice!!

Well done Sam don’t get caught up with the dropped fish comes with the territory when targeting early season snapper they don’t take the bait as aggressively now compared to mid November.
