I think everyone knows that mate. However, not everyone is a fan of putting in countless hours in cold conditions to catch one... I know im not, even though i did get reward for effort recently with some nice 4 & 5.6kg reds off the rocks.

People are just buzzing about the weather changing and the fishing turning on hot again, myself included.
Don't have to put in countless hours. Nut out the tide change they feed on and it can be as simple as in and out bagged out in an hour trip after trip...

Either way you can all keep snapper 'season'. If it's not some idiot trying to jam an anchor through your boat at the ramp not paying attention it's said idiot dropping anchor 5m away from you when there's no one else within a km. Been there done that and I'd rather catch 15cm Bream outside Crown casino in nothing but a g string

Couldn’t agree more, snapper season is a complete pain in the arse everyone looses there minds and throws out all boating etiquette

Even doing it starkers with all the tackle out and about, in weather like tonight's, strapped to a 6000ft tall lightning rod and having every single beautiful woman on the planet laugh and throw tomatoes at you is more fun than September-Mid December catching mostly glorified pinkies on PPB.

The 15cm Bream are just a bonus

As an outboard mechanic...i cant stress this enough...

IF YOU WANT A SERVICE FOR THE SNAPPER SEASON...RING YOUR DEALER AND BOOK IT IN NOW! DON'T WAIT UNTIL THE NICE WEATHER OR SEPTEMBER TO ROLL AROUND....GOOD CHANCE YOU WILL BE WAITING FOR A WHILE TO GET IN! We often have a waiting list of 6-8 weeks by september...so get in now!

Also...go and start your boat if you haven't for a couple of months...turn the steering, charge your batteries...check your trailer...if its outside...make sure there is no water in it. Fuel is crap and if it sits for longer than 3 months...it can start causing issues ie gummed up jets, fuel pumps etc.
4 strokes and DI engines are great...but if they sit around...they can cost thousands to repair.
We had a old boy who had a 50efi fourstroke...the boat sat for 5 years...$2500 before we did the service (fuel vapour chamber, fuel lines, etc)

3 things i can guarantee i will be doing in september/october...
Batteries
Carbies
Steering cables/systems.

Unless your Jesus...you cant walk home

Great advice....can I ask what I should do before I start up an old 2 stroke motorbike that's been sitting for a couple of years?

Are you using circles or j hooks for this over winter? I’m wondering if I should change out the circles on my gummy rigs to have a shot at a snapper as by catch
