Soft Plastic Retrieve Q's

Hi guys!
I have been using the double hop retrieve for a while now, and the one thing i dont get is how people can feel a fish biting on the slack line when you drop your rod after the double hop. So how do you guys do this? I rarely hook fish on the drop, mainly becuase I cannot feel the bite through the slack line.

Cheers

Wind as quick as required when dropping the rod to maintain line tension

Watch the line, when you see it twice or being pulled in strike, as that’s when the fish is striking your plastic.

It can be a bugger trying to learn to fish them properly, endless ways and methods. But basically after any movement you make (hops, flicks zigzags etc) make sure you are winding in as much slack line as possible so that you are keeping a good connection with the lure to feel bites.. keeping in mind that you will often not feel anything through the rod and while the lure is sinking you should be watching your line like a hawk to see any odd movements (bites). Imagine if you were watching the line and someone flicked the line with their finger, that's normally what a bite on the drop would look like, keep in mind that varies and fish can be really subtle when they have a go at the plastic, but generally any movement in your line that isn't normal (like your lure sinking) you should strike it :a_goodjob: . In my opinion, doing that will increase your catch rates/hook ups a heap!

Good luck man, it all comes with practice.
