That is a big difference for only a bit longer rod. I get about 50-70m on my 9ft rod using 30-50gm metals. Maybe my casting sucks... :(

I get close to 50m with a 7ft Nitro baby viper rod, 2500 size daiwa reel, 15lb braid and a 20-30g metal.

Knowing how to load up a rod when casting does help with casting distance. Also if the lure is too heavy or too light for the rod you wont get good distance either

i use the improved albright works fine for me the rods i use for soft plastic fishing have the micro guides for me the fg knots to hard to tie especially trying to retie 6lb braid in windy conditions
