Cranka crabs
Who has used them? On what fish were they most effect for you? Do you add action or simply let them do their thing in the current.
I could see them being a pretty damn good gummy bait in the surf, havent had the chance to use them myself however.

Re: Cranka crabs
I have two of them - have tried them for Bream on the Nong and Yarra - no joy yet, but the word is they work well.
I figure it is just another example of me being a bad lure fisher

Re: Cranka crabs
There's a few techniques for cranka crabs depending on structure.
Generally speaking they are either fished slack lined down structure to either get hit on the drop or picked up sitting still on the bottom, if that doesn't happen slowly drag and paused to imitate a scurrying crab for a little bit.
The other way people use them is slowly dragging them over flats, an effective technique but not one I'm overly fond of.

Re: Cranka crabs
They smash the bream but a boring and passive way to fish. Essentially the lure does all the work.
Personally that’s fun for a little while but then wears off. I lure fish to fish actively.
A good lure for comps or to turn a day around but wouldn’t be my first choice for a session.
Having said that. Keen to try the big ones on the snapper.
