Re: Plastic shads
Been fiddling about with these plastics trying to keep them on a normal hook and how to fish them weedless fashion. Ive come accross a 2 hook method with the top hook going down through the head, spun 180 degrees and pushed up through the body leaving the hook point sitting on top of the body and an inch back fom the head. I did the same thing with the 2nd hook a bit further back. I tried it in the pool and it swims well. The hope is that with the hooks out of the way I should be able to pull this through the weed without snagging anything except hopefully a decent fish. I think i need wider gape hooks than normal with this so will look for something around 6/0 size. I'll take some pics tomorrow if it works,.

Re: Plastic shads
try this. You can use a normal long shank hook to rig your plastic and attach to this lead head. Comes in a range of weights too.

Re: Plastic shads
Looks interesting but way too expensive for the amount of gear I loose. Im actively seeking out the deepest snaggiest spots I can find. I'm ok with the weights, I need plastics that can stand up to the heavy casting.Uluabuster wrote:try this. You can use a normal long shank hook to rig your plastic and attach to this lead head. Re: Plastic shads
Try zmans and super glue them on to the hook, really shoyldnt go anywhere on a cast and will be even more durable

Re: Plastic shads
Have you tried zman swimmers? Zman is generally regarded as the toughest plastics on the market. Those things rigged weedless with a worm hook would have the best chance of survival of anything else I've seen.

^ Z's are good, even the bluethroat at spot Y are having trouble ripping them apart. Just dont' leave them touching each other in a hot place.

Re: Plastic shads
Ok get the hot bit, why does touching matter? I have tried the z's but it's difficult to keep them weedless as the hook still works its way through. Might have to resort to making my own ones up with electrical insulation, wheres the super glue when you need it?DougieK wrote:^ Z's are good, even the bluethroat at spot Y are having trouble ripping them apart.
