I've done this with both a 6-10 902 coastal with 10kg braid and a 962 saltist PE 6 with 24kg braid. It works.

An alternative would be to rig the plastic on a running rig dropper between two swivels then a trace of lighter line off the bottom to a 4 ounce.

So Mainline >>>Swivel 60lb trace with running swivel leading to your unweighted plastic >>>swivel >>>> Significan't longer trace to 4 ounce bomb.

But seriously, just use a heavy jig head and cast harder. I'll take a vid for you showing the technique I use this weekend.

Its a bit to cold for what I'm really after but I think this will work for snapper in rough ground in the next few months. Im hoping to get onto some pelagics in the summer so I'm going to try a whole heap of different (wierd) methods. :-D

I'd go a texas rigged worm hook and peg the sinker (or tie it into a loop knot on the eye of the hook). Or if you want it to waft in the current a carolina rig. Just do both weedless and you shouldbe right

Im not discounting that way its just im going to be spanking this way farther than normal so the rotten bottom bit wont work. I cant be bothered with the rough ground clips as I'll be constantly casting. I might look at a heavier jig head but the ones I have seen are not up to distance casting.
Im really trying to get this down deep in amongst the snags which is the main reason for the heavy gear.

If you're using zmans you will want to have them on a a jig head or similar as they are neutrally buoyant and will float up if you just have a hook.
