question on running sinker rig

Post by raco09 » Fri Apr 18, 2014 10:10 pm

Ok guys. Just a question about how you guys set up your running sinker rig whilst lb fishing. When I fish from a surf beach or back beaches chasing something like a gummy ill use the kind of rig where I usually attach a sinker to the ezy slider clip. When I fish wpb on a boat I'll use the same rig however ill remove the clip from the slider and tie about 15cm of line to it and attach a sinker. Question is, can you use this same rig (the one i use on a boat) land based? Cheers

You can. Forget about removing the clip though phil.

Yes I use that rig for mulloway with the line tied from the slider (clip removed) to the sinker. It's good as it keeps the bait a bit off the bottomand if the sinker snags the line will snap and you won't loose the entire rig.

Depends how far you need to cast and where your fishing.
A pulley rig is my goto rig for distance and WP rig if distance isn't important. I remove the clip always on ezy rigs and tie on light mono to the sinker so that breaks before my leader.

I use this rig all the time. Helps to keep both bait and sinker at the same distance. Plus Use a weaker breaking strain line on the sinker and you can pull out of snags, sans sinker

Thanks for the imput lads. I usually use a pulley rig also, but when I get abit lazy and can't be bothered making one, I use the ezy rig. Only reason I was asking is because ive seen a product sort of like an ezy rig (some members may be familiar with the product - ducks nuts) that im keen to try but my concern is when casting will the lines twist together? I guess it would be a trial and error.

The lines shouldn't be twisting with a short dropper for your sinker :|

I use the Ducks nuts too and they work identically to the ezy rig, they have a smaller diameter than an ezy rig so find it's easier to get weed off. Line twist only really happens with both when you wind back in fast or are getting crabbed I find
