I recently purchased my first braid from Hook Up in Ferntree Gully, they spooled it for me. I am pretty happy I read this thread as it makes a lot of sense. I am considering putting braid on a few more of our rods. Want a lot more lures.

I am not sure about fraying. I have been using frog for 3+ years on 3 outfits and never had problems, It will fade a little but nothing like Gosen Egi Fire or Daiwa Sensor but that's about it. I know my other mates who are using frog for a very long time and they never had any issues.

If you don't want to spend $80, get your hands on Sunline Castaway for like $44 from Tusribaka tackle(local business). Loving this line on my new outfit.

Plenty of other good lines but you get what you pay for in most cases.

Castaway is good. But if you get the chance SS try the Toray seabass powergame next time (also available from tsuribaka) I have both and the Toray is miles ahead of it. Silky smooth.

Got 10lb power pro bite motion on a 2500 strad ci4+ and its brilliant great knots and casts a mile, also Penn pursuit 20lb on a Vella vl55 which is again pretty good, and very thin, have fireline on one as mentioned above very durable but has more memory which i don't like a heap, also got the Finns on a Shakespeare but that is a bit to string like for my liking and isn't smooth enough to cast as far as the power pro

I'm not very experienced so a question is braid good for bait fishing from beaches and piers? and if not can someone recommend some good 20lb mono that wont start jumping off the reel before casting, and does not have alot of memory? please :notworthy:

thank you in advance
cheers Tim

Braid will work for that, I fish it almost exclusively in all my fishing now, however a low stretch mono would work pretty well to, I think jerry brown do one, in saying that I'm sure other people can direct you to it if you decided against the braid :)
