Re: Monofilament Line
I'm a big fan of suffix mono and braid. Bought diawa tournament braid a year ago, that hasn't failed me either, took a while to get used to it though. Black Magic leader, most of the times too =]

Re: Monofilament Line
I was bought up using maxima fishing line. Ive just started to think about buying line for some big Westernport snapper this season, I hate braid.. I have 4 reels to spool. Whats the reccomendations? stick with the green maxima? or do i go with what the fishing gurus flog on their shows like jason kennedy and his fishin trip best berkley?
I was thinking 30 pond mainline, Ive never caught a fish (snapper) bigger than 3 kg. im trying to get in excess of that this year...
any tips would be appreciated
also whats the difference with fluoro or clear line? apart from the obvious... wouldnt flouro spook the fish? I dont want couta coming through biting me off...

Re: Monofilament Line
Not a fan of mono, like fishing via an elastic bloody band. Virtually everything I have is spooled with braid. Mainly Fins..with linesystems flouro leader for lure fishing.

Re: Monofilament Line
Not sure of the properties of either but flurocarbon is supposed to have a refractive index which is closer to the refractive index of water as opposed to the refractive index of mono. Basically refractive index means how much light rays will be 'bent' when passing through an object. So in theory, fluro should not be as visible in water. The science is there but actually proving that it is applicable to the manufacturing standards of fluro is another thing. Unless things have changed, fluro is denser than mono therefore heavier and unable to cast as far as the equivalent mono diameter.crumpet_avenger wrote:also whats the difference with fluoro or clear line? apart from the obvious... wouldnt flouro spook the fish? For the record I use Platil ST mono but am thinking of changing.
thanks
