It's gonna be weird seeing two dozen bait pools drifted off Sorrento Pier on Sunday morning.

I'd put 400 of 40lb tasline on personally. I ran 50lb fins and power pro for years on those sized reels. The tasline has next level smoothness

Thanks guys, that was really helpful. Gone with the 50lb Tasline on this one and moved to 40lb on the Ultegra 5500 (with 30lb on the 4000) so I have pretty good coverage now. 30lb and 50lb fluoro leader options so I think I'm set. Appreciate your help.

Any other piers in PPB a chance for kings? This approach would probably work in Corio Bay too, right? Maybe get a couple of squid at Clifton Springs jetty, head down to Cunningham to put them out.

Any of them in the south half of the bay or docklands. There are a couple of clips on youtube of people getting them at Docklands. There was a decent one dropped in front of my at Mornington by a guy flicking salmon lures around.

I'm sure they're about, it's just a matter of nobody is really fishing for them. Drift a livebait on a low tide and find out for yourself.

About 5 weeks ago I saw 2 kings swim up and down the inside of the limeburners boat ramp harbour wall in Geelong. Once a boat launched, they left and didn’t come back. We only had bread and butter bait set ups, didn’t have anything with us that would’ve tempted them. Good luck in your search
