For starters go to ebay and buy Hercules braid.
Value for money and thin.

When it comes down to it you don't really need to be that fussy with the braid (as a beginner anyways), as long as it isn't the cheap and nasty stuff then it will be ok.

For soft plastics I usually use the berkeley fireline exceed as it is often on sale (recently $5 for 150m in bargain bins of anaconda), actually coming to think of it its on most of my reels. Havent had a problem with it.

If you can afford it tho.. always buy the best you can get! I always shop for bargains and go with the cheapest quality stuff.

I normally run 4lb to 10lb for soft plastics, but as a beginner, grab the 10lb.

i see anaconda have the daiwa j braid and the shimano kairiki at the same price i use both but my choice would be the daiwa j holds better out of the 2 or spend a extra $8-$10 bucks and grab the sunline pe 8 elsewere

Would the quality of your rod also affect casting distance?

It is more important than the type of braid you use

If its justplastics or hard bodies or vibes
The action will change dependong on the rod type
