Identical apart from the final locking of the knot. As a kid I was taught to tie the blood knot, the same as the clinch knot.

I spent way too much time tying the above suggested knots last night....all of them where good to tie with old tired eyes.
Then I came across the "Palomar knot" (could literally do this with my eyes shut)...anyone used it?

Uni knot is very good for people with poor eye sight like me, easy to tie in the dark or quickly

Depends on how technical you want to get.

Half Blood with the finishing lock (can go by many names ie improved half blood knot, locked half blood knot, half blood knot, or clinch knot or improved clinch knot, locked clinch knot depending on who you talk to or which knot book you read) is one of the best strongest most reliable knots by far better than a uni knot.

Half Blood without the finishing lock (sometimes called clinch knot) works its way loose and shouldn't be used IMO.

If you want more strength you can add more turns and two loops through the eye if the eye is very thin gauge.

I always use the Palomar knot and really like it as it is so easy to tie and seems very strong. It can not be your only know though as the loop passes over the swivel so you can not use it to put on a new leader. I use a cinch knot at the that end.

I always use the Palomar not to attach braid to swivels or other terminal tackle. Has never ever broken at that point, even while doing stupid stuff like trying to haul in large rays, banjo's etc. Can't see any reason why it would be bad when tying mono.
Improved clinch knot for pretty much everything else besides line-line connections.

i found the palomar knot to be a great beginners knot for braid, used it for quite a while when i first started using braid, going from mainline to swivel & didn't have any problems.. i'd still use the uni knot over the palomar for mono though..
