im going to try bait for snapper this time mate, i will still carry a lure rod as well.

yeah im going to be taking my dad out wit me and he isnt very experienced so thats why im just buying some cheap stuff, cbf spending big on stuff that i might not use a lot.

Honestly mate, if it's just for drifting baits out the back of the boat every now and then.... just get the cheapest stuff possible.

I've got cheap and expensive and I can tell you that when you are sitting there with your 4 rods out the back of the boat and you start to see one load up...... no one really cares which one it is on!

yeah , thats exactly what it is for, drifting baits out and sitting back and waiting.
maybe kmart jwalker gear will be enough.

As long as you have decent line on there - I don't think you can go wrong. Worst case is either rod or reel breaks...... and that just means you will be skull dragging the monster in by hand!

You can get away with braid on the snapper snatchers without any dramas. I'd run mono on the drifting pillies though.

If going for mono get some good stuff dont get cheap stuff cos it doesnt come off strait and curls up when no pressure on the line
