spooling gummy braid

Post by Gummysmasher » Sat Jul 22, 2017 6:32 pm

I need some advice,
I brought 150 meters of braid today for 2 reels I didn't but 300 because of the price and ive heard a lot of people leaving mono as a backing behind there braid to save some coin but I don't know what knot to tie to the braid because I don't want it to stuff up my reel ive looked on youtube but couldn't get a good video to suit my needs

thanks heaps :water:

Just use an FG knot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjzUb5QRKuk

It is a good idea to make sure the knot lies tucked up against the side of the spool otherwise the tag can catch on line coming off the reel.

hey mate thanks for having a look for me but in that video it had braid is my main line and then mono as my leader, I want my braid essentially being kind of like a second main line and then making it look like its braid all the way to the reel.

True. I guess that rules out all mainline to leader knots then.

150 metres of braid for 2 reels. So 75 on each? Land based I'm assuming. By the time you cast out and that fish goes for a run you will be on your backing in no time. Get a snag or a bust off on your braid and you will have none left. I'd get another 150 spool for your other reel at least. Anyways not my choice just my thinking.
I'd Join lines with a improved allbright.

Never heard of gummy braid. Is it braid specifically for gummy? ;-)
