I generally use 4/0 Octopus circles for mulloway fishing, but have found them a little less effective with a two hook rig - maybe because the top hook can't roll as easily?

I've been knocking about the idea of sizing the top hook right down and using it purely as a keeper.

I use circle hooks for everything except mullet under a float

I went to circles when they first came out but can't shake the no strike, so I only use circles 1, 0 for whiting and on the snapper snatchers circles for live baiting but j hooks on the 2 hook for snapper gummies etc

Circles for Gummies and red carp. Back to ultra fine long shanks for Whiting. Gamas or owners. Can't stand hooks that rust just by looking at them

I use circles on my running sinker rigs in the surf, I let the Salmon run and it seems to hook tbem every time, same strategy with carp in the river. I like using a long shank on a paternoster rig. I use KL 100 Whiting hooks the same way as circle hooks, they do rust easily though so I will get some small circle hooks for the ting in the future.

Buy a keeper bag with plastic zip lock fasteners fixed in the bag like pages, place your hooks still in the original pack into a holder page in whatever order you wish.Use what ever hooks needed for the trip and either wash still on the line (after a. Salt trip) or discard.
Remaining hooks still in pristine condition in your hook bag and the trip has cost you a few hooks(if you discard).
Pretty simple, I gave up taking hooks out of their pack and putting into a tackle box years ago, they all rust eventually.

PS Black Magic KL1/0 circles forever for Whiting and most other bread and butter fish.
Don,t strike, watch the bend and lift.

I find it hooks them through the corner of the mouth quite nice and secure, I think long line fisherman used circle hooks because the beasts don't get off.
