Snapper Snatchers

Post by ThomasG » Sun Jan 03, 2016 5:06 pm

Hi, does anyone use Snapper Snatchers ? From what I can see they are just a large fly, is that right ?

I am always looking for little projects and if the consensus is that they work then I may attempt to make some.

From what I have read they can also be used in the surf .

Does anyone have a fly vice for sale ?

Cheers .......ThomasG

I have used snapper snatchers without muck luck, however the whiting whackers, I have caught pinkies, barracouta, cowyoung, salmon, flathead, maybe the occasional whiting.

Even got a double header of pinkies, one legal, one just under on a whiting whacker. The next bite, got another double header, except the top knot came undone.

So what is the difference , Is a whiting whacker just a small snapper snatcher ?
I feel really stupid saying that.

The size hook on the whiting whackers, is about 1/0 compared to 5/0 6/0. So the hook is smaller and they use lighter breaking strain lines as well.
