For those who use barbless hooks.

Post by Rod Bender » Sun Jun 14, 2015 3:43 pm

Hi all debarbed peoples
Question time...if you use barbless hooks, how do you debarb them? I just crimp the hooks with pliers. Was wondering if anyone goes a step further and files them off. Or do people purchase barbless hooks? I have seen them in stores (barbless trebles) but not that many of them.
Thanks in advance.

I have a pair of pliers that have flat jaws (not serrated) and just crush them - just careful to ensure the points not in there.

As long as I remember to do it on new purchases it's fine. Let the collection build though and it's a bit soul destroying doing catch-up :)

Pliers. I'm not pedantic about it, prefer the point just sticking out off the shank
