Terminal connectors

Post by oldfisho39 » Tue Apr 28, 2015 1:22 pm

Have always had some difficulty memorising knots !! - never was into scouting . . .
Read a post somewhere about moving away from swivels etc and am wondering if anyone is using clips and/or snaps to attach lures etc.
Things like the Daiwa Tournament 8-Snap or the Mustad snaps ?

Use snags for lures all the time for squid jigs i use a decoy / breaden spiral snap or daiwa egi snaps. For surf spinning off the surf I use a rolling snap swivel. Sometimes for bait fishing where i couldn't be bothered taking off the snap I just attach the swivel to the snap.

I use 00 decoy round snaps for bream lures and soft plastics and then a size 2 of the same for squid and salmon lures, work perfectly and no affect on lure action :)

is there anything wrong with only using these on metals, squid jigs, lures etc?
does it affect the way they swim and I should get some of those snap clips?

Metals no as it actually lets them spin more, for small hard bodies a lot if hindrance on action and cam make the lure run all over the place not sure on the others as I only ever used the snap types for them, sorry

I use these for salmon slugs, but for squid jigs and other hardbodies I use something with less weight like the above snaps as hardbodies can be pretty light.

I'd your using clips on hbs you need to take the split ring off. Otherwise the lures will bwcome front heavy.
Im still on the fence about the whole clips for hardbodies and plastics. For squid jigs I use them. Same for slugs.

Although you will still catch Bream I think for bream your better off with a perfection loop and also a loop for soft plastics, Salmon squid flatties I use the Norman clips, hard to find but I stock up when I do find them.
