Re: 40lb braid suggestions
Hey mate,
I got put onto this website by a charter operator in Brisbane before I moved down here. He's a guy who does all review tests on the real diameter & breaking strain of different braids & monos.
http://www.paulusjustfishing.com/4linetestingbuy.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Whenever I'm buying I always try to go for the thinnest diameter with the highest breaking strain in the range that I'm searching. Hope that helps.
Mike.

Good luck getting line from the above. He can't keep up with the demand and has upset a few ppl recently.
I'd stick with well known brands if it were me.

Re: 40lb braid suggestions
didn't think you could buy from him....
anyway if looking for cheap stuff, beware they are like rope, but in that breaking strain im guessing they are going to be used with heavy sinkers, so casting shoud be ok..
the usual fins and sunline will be your cheaper brands..
so a price guide might be handy so guys can recommend something

Re: 40lb braid suggestions
Sorry - wasn't very clear on my post.
I have never got any of his line but I think it's an awesome chart (he has done up a couple of braid comparison charts on his website) to compare the different braids out there. Lets you see all the diameters & breaking strains listed in one place so you can compare... Personally I use Berkley Fireline, Berkley Nanofil, & Power Pro depending on the breaking strain I want.

Re: 40lb braid suggestions
How many other reels will you buy/respool with the same or similar line? If it's a few, grab a bulk spool of Daiwa saltiga boat braid (1800m spool around $300-$350) in pe3 which is around 40lb breaking strain. I haven't even used it yet and am going to respool all of my reels with it from power pro super slick8.

I'm using YGK and I can't say a bad thing about it. 20lb feels like 10, knot strength is excellent and it casts a FREAKING MILE.
