Mono typically loose 10% of its breaking strength every year.

I almost use braid for everything now but what mono I have I change every 2 years.

Depends on usage will drive how long i change the line, the other thing to get more lift out of braid is to wind the braid onto a spare spool and you get to use the new stuff for a period of time.

i always cheack the 1st 20 odd meters of all reels of mine that run mono line then change it about once a year mono is cheap just buy bulk spools
