Surgeon's loop Knot or figue 8 loop knot

Post by widgeon58 » Fri Dec 05, 2014 6:55 pm

Just wondering which of these two is better for using for for a dropper knot in a paternoster rig as my partner is looking for a quick knot to tie in 6 to 12lb mono as her fingers are not as supple as they use to be, as well as a knot to tie quickly in the night without worrying about the amount of light available?

Both knots at times could be be cut at times to give a longer single length hook trace?

I'm not familiar with either of those knots but i use a double overhand (i think that's what its called). very quick to tie and can do it in the dark

If you have the dexderity you can't go past a twisted dropper loop.

I think the double overhand is a surgeon's knot, not 100% about that though.

Dougie the twisted dropper is what I'd normally use as well but her finger dexterity isn't there and yes to my knowledge the double overhand or surgeon's loop knot are one and the same ( but willing to be corrected on that). It was called the surgeon's loop knot when taught to me, so I have always called it that.
