Hallelujah!

Post by Larksy88 » Thu Dec 04, 2014 8:32 am

So i've been fishing with mono for a while now, never bothered to spool any of my reels with braid, last night i decided i was gonna give it a go, filled my little Okuma 4000 with some 13lb Fluoro Yellow! I didn't realize what i was missing out on!!!

Braid FTW

For lure fishing it is streets ahead, the only time i use mono at all now is when I'm on the boat, when a gummy runs through all your lines it is a bloody nightmare if you're running braid...

You really were living under rocks lolll.
I'm sure now you will catch less swuid. Murphys law will come into play...

But yeah squid fishing with 4000 sized reel and mono is a waste
Get a 2000 sized reel and some 10lb braid and you will cast miles better and also be less tired
Cheers

Yeah, for ages i was fishign 6lb fluro all the way through for squid (trout outfit).

Changed to 10lb braid and a heavier rod, best thing ever.

I actually use 25lb braid for squiding and 20 lb leader. The number of jigs retrieved has significantly improved now......

Im using 20lb leader at the moment, i figure 13lb Braid and 20lb leader is an good all round size

Will probably change over to fluorocarbon leader eventually
