Re: Graphite Surf Rod for casting distance?
I recently puchased 12-ft penn prevail..159,,from dinga....
My biggest rod before this,was a 10ft.
Currently have 9 ft starlo with a stradic with 8lb braid..
Was running daiwa laguna ,with15 lb on prevaill....was bearly getting more distance on 12 feet rod then 9...
Only used it once and and get use to using 12ft rod ,as it felt awkward.

Is yours a two piece rod?
Any cons about your rod?
Have you got a web-link for your rod and reel.

Penn prevails are a nice rod at your price range and can be coupled with the stradic c5000fk or saragosa 10000sw depending on the target fishone2three wrote:Hi Guys,
Sorry to dig an old thread but I thought its better than starting a new thread.
I would like to purchase a new Surf rod and reel than will allow me to do surf fishing and rock fishing plus alot of other LBF.
I would prefer a two piece rod but open to suggestions.
I have a budget up to $200.00 per rod and up to $300 per reel if cheaper even better.
Point me in the right direction as this is long overdue to buying something decent for a change.

My latest acquisition is a NItro Frankenstien it is 15' and distance wise without any practise is about 150 metres.
I have an 11' pro angler that will cast 40grms at around 100 metre's
Okuma X factor O/H
Mojiko mx-5 sfm combo 1202 8-12kg mh is a very nice surprise at the distance it can cast.
Penn

I have heard of them and are they rebranded rods?
With your Nitro Frankenstein rod is that a two piece or three piece?
What is the advantage of having a three piece rod guys.

Solid advice. Shimano Aeroweave or Penn Prevail is the pick for that $.mooneyz wrote:

I have both the Shimano Aerowave and a Penn Prevail and are very happy with them both.
