I personally prefer Daiwa reels , but i still enjoy Shimano reels also having owned & used both brands .

Poll question is what do you prefer to use ? Daiwa or Shimano if you could only use one or the other ?

hard question i think i have more shimano reels the daiwa but i think i have twice the amount in Penn reels, not realy a tackel snob i get what feels nice and what I think i require, which in turn is normaly wrong and then i have to get rods to suit the reels.

I dont have ether a Diawa or Shimano reel amounst my gear
mainly penn OHs ( 10 of them ranging from penn 100 to 12/0 senator )and a few cheap ebay spinning reels ( Melaluka 3000 sized reels )
these are doing the job so far however before using them I strip them and regrease them with waterproof grease - I've landed a 1 meter and 93 cm gummy on one with 15 lb line
so the drag works good enough - for a $ 13 reel
so far I've found that no matter what spinning reel I use on the yak its hard to keep them in good nick to long
