I may be cured!!!

Post by Rod Bender » Wed Feb 13, 2013 10:22 pm

Walked into the local tackle store today and salesperson came up to me and said hello. Then went on to say he knows I'm a Daiwa man (um, I've purchased a rod and a reel from there in the last 3 months!) and he may have something to interest me! Took me into his office to show me some recently arrived Daiwa specials. Apparently Daiwa have some new models /colors etc coming out in there rod and reel range so they offloaded some bargains to this store. So he showed me a Presso Iprimi (from memory) trout combo. A great outfit. Price tag = $300!!!!! I thought that was excellent! The reels alone are around $230. There was a time I would have jumped at it but I thought despite it being a bargain - I don't need it. So I didn't buy it! (unheard of from me). He also said he had four Steez rods cheap too. He said $400...could be $400 or $490. not sure but that is pretty cheap I think for these rods. Anyway I am proud of myself for turning down a bargain that I didn't need!
Very good to see this shop passing on the discounts as well.

Jim,

Your steely composure must have been hard to sustain whilst being shown said bargains. :D

Well done mate. You're a better man than I.

I would have broken into hives and instantly developed an eye tick trying to hold it together. Dry mouth, sweaty palms.....

Is it just me, or is it taking up a bargain almost a religous experience ??????????

I like the way you put it!!!! Snaffling a bargain is a momentous occasion. I'm not out of the 'woods' yet. The gear was still in his office, not on the shelves when I left! Strange thing is, I had recently thought of purchasing the trout outfit as a bit of an upgrade - even though I don't need it! Could possibly be a $150 saving as is!!!! Knawing away at my head now! I mentioned it before and I will say it again - this shop is great for passing on any 'bargains' they get. They have a Presso Iprimi reel in stock - price tag around $220! They could easily try and flog the reel itself of for that price!

Jim,

There is no cure for CTA (Compulsive Tackle Aquisition). No amount of Fishing Tackle purchases will curb the symptoms either.

You are simply in remission.

Sorry to be the one to deliver the bad news! Rest assured there are many suffers here at Fishing Victoria Forum and we're all here to support each other!

I too, feel the icy grip of CTA. If anything, going cold turkey just makes it STRONGER!
