Hello All,
I've just joined the Fishing Victoria forum - and what a great place for sharing information! :D
I have a question I was hoping someone may be able to shed some light on.
I have had an Alvey sidecast 600BC reel for a few years - in that time the rod was damaged but the reel is fine.
Looking into getting a new rod for it and I'm not really sure what would be a good choice (keeping in mind an Alvey reel sits much closer to the butt of the rod than other reels.
Would anyone have any suggestions on the best model rod? :water:

Hi Kopboy,
Welcome to the Forum!
Alvey make a range of rods to suit their reels, maybe browsing their website would give you a better idea as to what rod would suit the fishing you do.
Wilson, Snyder and Gary Howard are some other brands that make rods to suit Alvey reels.
Wish I could give you some first hand advice but it's been about 25 years since I used an Alvey!
Cheers,
Cam.

Thank you very much for that - I'll check out the Snyder, Wilson and Gary Howard rods!

You'll also find that Shakespear make a 12 foot ugly stick that's suitable for use with side cast reels.
Not all that dear either. Around the $100 - $120 mark from memory.
