Eslop - how do you know the price of the stella?
Not sure of the price of this one, but know the price other models is way out of my budget ;)
I'm sure they're awesome. Being a freshwater fisho mostly, I really don't need high end equipment. Not that high end anyways.

I'd love to have an open cheque book though, that's for sure.

For yer average snapper fisho a stella is way overt the top & could never be justified (but if you've got plenty of dough them by all means go ahead), but if yer chasing kingfish, spaniards, wahoo, etc they are worth every cent.
Yeah there's also a heap of other top end reels that will also do the job.
Van Stahls, Diawa Saltigas, TTs, Okumas, etc.
However, try pulling up a really pissed 20kg king in shallow water, or a 40kg popper munching GT, with a Sienna & you'll soon find out why people do willingly pay the big bucks for these top quality reels.

OK so after playing with them all for half an hour or so apart from the 30 000 they looked like a stella, felt like a stella, worked like a stella, infact just the same as the old stella just prettier, however the 30000 is bigger, heavier and chunkier, it is not comfortable (might be on a rod) it is a giant winch, other than the increased line capacity I can not see any engineering feats that make this reel world beating. I will not be buying one as much as I had my heart set on one. I will however buy one of the older 2500S models for a discounted price while I am over here.

My Mrs has not once asked to see a receipt for any of my purchases. She might ask what I paid for it which I'm happy to tell her. She might get upset but I'm the one earning the money, which also funds her clothes/shoes/handbag shopping so she can't really say too much.

Having said that, I won't buy stuff when I know we genuinely can't afford it.
