Reel to match Shimano Catana 12' 2-3oz surf rod

Getting back into fishing.
I am after recommendations for a surf reel that would go well with Shimano Catana 12' 2-3oz surf rod or a Silstar Power Tip 12.5" PT-1202BWV7144.
Preferably Shimano reel. Budget upto $250.
I've had the Abu Garcia Ambassedeur 7000 but I am over baitcasters.
Is a spin reel 6000 series sufficient?
