I'm leaning towards the Emcast 4500 myself as I have 5500's on my Okuma Xfactor rods and they have performed well for the past 7 or 8 yrs. I was just seeing what everyone else favored or was using.
Imo if the rod is just sitting in a rod holder waiting for a circle hook to do it’s thing you might as well just get a cheap, solid fish winch rather than anything fancy. That’s just me though.

Better off just buying a Saragossa 8000 or 10000, the 10,000 on sale is $250 pretty much everywhere. Won’t find a better reel for that application, I use them in western port

Ignore the gear'd stuff (sorry guys) and go a alvey can better battle fish and that with the 1:1 ratio's ive found.

Thanks Dazz...so they'd cast further than a normal spin reel of the same size?

sorry for the late reply yes that,s what the reels are designed for i have the 5500 ultegra on the nitro messiah match,s up very nice
