Need a estuary/hiking rod
Looking for a good estuary rod for big dusky flathead in particular but also good for hiking, so maybe a 3 or 4 piece travel rod. Any suggestions?

Re: Need a estuary/hiking rod
Hey Mate, morning
I bought a 7ft shimano rod and reel from Aldi last year. It was $40. They have it from time to time. It great for travelling but not sure for estuary fishing. Took it to Mauritius great for casting. Might give it a try, estuary fishing Saturday.

I got 2x silstar travel rods from compleat angler ringwood last sale for about $60ea from memory. 7"6 and 10" ones, both 5 piece - seem good quality and perform well. The 7"6 might be too heavy for your intent at 5-7kg rating

I’ve got a pfleuger Trion rod which is pretty ace. It’s one piece but they make them in travel versions as well. I read a lot of good reports on them when I was researching. Might be worth checking out.

Depends how much you want to spend. I have Shimano raider travel 3 piece and Daiwa Gen Black travel 3 piece. Both are great, light and versatile. Gen black is slightly better.

God they are 1.5x the price of what spent on my good heavy rods!rb85 wrote:Don’t **** around mate go quality

I like quality but could never justify spending $400 on a travel rod.
