Sedona 3000 Reel?

Post by Bugalugs » Sat Sep 29, 2018 8:46 am

Hi folks,
I was after a new reel for bream, whiting, trout etc, and I've seen a Shimano Sedona 3000 for $87.00.
Unfortunately they don't have any 2500 left and apparently the only difference between them is a larger spool size on the 3000.
I am going to use it on a 3-6kg, 6 foot, one piece whiting rod which I bought recently (for use in a 12ft tinny)
I don't do heaps of fishing, but just wanted to have a nice reel for when I do go out. I kind of want an all-rounder as I do lures, SP and bait fishing.
Any thoughts or suggestions?
Cheers
Neil

They aren’t a bad reel at all for what you pay :)

I have two 2500 Sedonas, they really are very nice reels. Very smooth and so far very reliable and quite tough

I've actually found a 2500 for $79 and they are in stock (so the website says) So I might get one over the weekend.
I just need to work out what sort of braid to put on it - Any suggestions?
I once did something stupid and bought some from Aldi on special ... wrong wrong wrong - wind knots and tangles - waste of money.

Most of my reels have Daiwa J braid x8 or sunline super pe. Both great braids. No complaints :)

Have to agree with Dazz....if you don't go fishing often and you're looking for an all-purpose set up, a stradic will handle a larger variety of fish and will last for ages
