I like 3000 over 2500 just holds more line if you hook onto something big

Same internal gear ratio but different overall ratio due to different spool diameter.Mattblack wrote:According to the website the Nasci & Stradic CI4 are identical weight and gear ratio...(not sure about the others)
I see shimano has changed the design. I have a ci4+ purchased when they first came out and the 3000 will retrieve more line per turn than the 2500.
It has been this way for as long as I can remember but the latest ci4+ has the same retrieval for both 2500 and 3000.
Perhaps the spool height is different instead of the spool diameter.

I think what they have done is left the external diameter the same but changed the internal diameter to fit more line but this is just from eyeballing it.frozenpod wrote:Same internal gear ratio but different overall ratio due to different spool diameter.Mattblack wrote:According to the website the Nasci & Stradic CI4 are identical weight and gear ratio...(not sure about the others)

There is a slight weight difference that gets bigger once you spool up.
It depends a bit on what you're doing but imo the 3000 is a useless size that just results in more backing being used.

Which with braid is pointless.mazman wrote:I think what they have done is left the external diameter the same but changed the internal diameter to fit more line but this is just from eyeballing it.

I would rather a shallow spool and larger diameter drag with braid.
