Hi,
Looking for a new 2000 or 3000 reel and the Nasci looks good. Been checking prices and there seems to be a difference between the Nasci and a model called the Nasci compact. Anyone know the difference if any and has used these reels. I mainly fish freshwater natives with the occasional trip to an estuary.
Any info greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mark.

Re: Shimano Nasci reel
Great reel for the price. They have been on sale recently for around the $100 - $110
The 3000 compact is the same size and weight as the 2000 but has a deeper spool (can get more line on it) and a different gearing ratio which I believe makes it higher speed.
I have a 3000 and love it. Very smooth.

Re: Shimano Nasci reel
Yepimon is on it.
Shimano have done a very good job of standardisising their sizing and making basic information about the reel readily available from the size.
C before the number indicates compact which is a larger spool on the same body size as below it.
Number to indicate size.
After the number a s, m or nothing indicates a shallow spool, medium depth spool or deep spool (standard in Aus)
After that there is a pg, hg, xg or nothing. Pg is power gearing which is a low gear ratio, nothing is the next one up which is their standard gearing, hg is high gear ratio and xg extra high gear ratio.
Put together it can look like this, c2000s = 1000 size body, 2000 size shallow spool and a regular gear ratio.
