I think DougieK has had some hands on with these reels ? he'll probably give his opinion when he reads this thread.

I've got a few different Smoke reels, can't fault any of them. My Smoke Speedfreak just needed a little fresh grease after a season of spinning for salmon but I think that it pretty standard given it would have done well over a thousand casts and retrieves.

Dinga will suck your **** if anything goes wrong with the reel too so you can buy pretty much anything from them with a fair degree of confidence.

I think the new ones will be unveiled at AFTA: http://www.quantumfishing.com/reels/spi ... shore.html

I've got a Cabo 40 which is heavy but really really nice reel to use.

Also a Speedfreak 30 on my squid rod. I woudl take a similar priced shimano any day of the week (ci4 strad) but this one came to me for a very good price.

There is nothing wrong with the speedfreak I just dont' have the same confidence in it. Although it comfortably handled a 1.5kg salmon off a beach in NSW recently, and it's lightweight is ideal for squidding and highspeed retrieve makes working metals really easy.

Got a couple of quantum smokes on casting outfits on my mates boat. They were very good on the last Portland tuna trip, pretty impressed with the drag on them.
