I run a rovex squid wrangler 7”6 rod with a Shimano sienna 2500 reel and 4kg braid, I squid from the boat and I can cast the thing into next week with little effort at all full setup under $120

The reel won't make much difference to the distance, the rod, line type and jig weight will however.

I use 25lb braid and 20lb leader when squidding. Cast a 3.5 jig 40+ metres.

Braid thickness. Leader knot. Guide type, rod length, rod style, reel and jig size all play a part. That 25lb line is a pe1.2 or 6lb mono equivalent. I fish heavy ground from time to time and would prefer to bend out prongs than to lose jigs.
