Weighs 99 grams
Toray blank with micro ti sic guides.
$300
It feels sensational in hand. Couple of mates bought em. No dramas fished out of the boat. However I’m hoping he brings out a model a bit shorter like my 7’8 Megabass caiyen.

Re: Egi Rod for boat use recomendations
Have you solved this Mattblack? did you find a 7ft proper egi rod?Mattblack wrote: ↑Tue Jun 05, 2018 9:50 amHi all,
I know there is a bit of debate whether or not Egi Rod's are a marketing ploy to get us to spend more money, but I'd like to get a rod specifically for targeting squid from a boat (mainly because I like the idea of it sitting in the rack rigged & ready to go). Anyone have an opinion on what I should be looking at? ($100-$200 budget)
P.S. I liked the sephia bb, but it seems too long to be using from a boat
I'm kind of in the same dilemma, being on kayak 8ft3 seems a bit long, hard to reach without bending the rod too much.
In my recent post, I mentioned my NS Black Water 702 egi rod is nice and light and good length, got the right action too, but it's a little too stiff and fast. I like soft parabolic egi rod.
Planning to sell it (being only used twice) and get a softer less fast egi rod.

Re: Egi Rod for boat use recomendations
I ended up getting a Catana Egi (7 1/2 ft)....dont really like it, it's too stiff and I'm not a fan of split grips (they dont sit in the rod holders/rocket launcher very well) I seem to get a better action out of a jig with my nibble tip whiting rod (it hasnt happened yet, but casting a big jig will snap it one day for sure).Seb85 wrote: ↑Thu May 28, 2020 2:29 pmHave you solved this Mattblack? did you find a 7ft proper egi rod?Mattblack wrote: ↑Tue Jun 05, 2018 9:50 amHi all,

If I could only take out 1 rod for the day, it would be my whiting rod (Shimano Impact NXT)....have caught everything on that little beauty.

Catana egi isn't exactly an egi rod. Yes it would've been too stiff for squid.
