Daiwa Saltist Nero 4500 or 6500?
Hello,
I’m a new member and been following the forum for about 1.5-2 Years now. I’m in my early 20’s and primarily do a lot of freshwater fishing targeting Murray Cod, but like most have more success with carp. Unfortunately have not cracked a cod on a lure yet which is my next goal. The forum has been a wealth of knowledge and helped me heaps so I’m very appreciative.
I have been wanting to get into some more salt water fishing which will most likely be surf fishing in Victoria mainly spinning for salmon but also will wet a bait too. I also planned a trip to Hamilton island and a few trips up the east coast.
So I’m looking at the Daiwa Saltist Nero in sizes 4500 or 6500.
The 4500 seems a better fit for all my general fishing and with 10kg drag should be plenty for most fish I will face. My only concern is I do have a couple smaller Shimano 4000’s which I know are smaller than the Daiwa 4500’s but would they be comparable? And for this reason am I better off getting a bigger 6500 for the times I may need it?
Thanks in advance
Matt.

the 4500 would be a more suitable size. I would however highly recommend getting a daiwa bg over the saltist nero.

The saltist nero comes with a fair bit of play out of the box and is no where near as nice to use

Definately 4500. I've got the 6500 and i find it too heavy and bulky..

For that price the nero is really good value from anaconda, go the 4000 or 4500 not 6500.
Although the BG is a far better reel in almost all aspects.
i have a BG4000 and 6500 and they are quite nice.
Buy the High speed version if primary use is spinning for salmon.
